Did someone say Double Chocolate Marshmallow Bunny Ice Cream?
Sigona’s and Sam Lieberman, owner of Marianne’s Ice Cream in Santa Cruz, developed a chocolaty & marshmallowy ice cream especially for you this Easter; available only at Sigona’s!
Sam Lieberman and his wife Dorothy are renowned for their old-fashioned Marianne’s Ice Cream shop in Santa Cruz near the boardwalk; pulling over for a double scoop of Marianne’s is practically a ritual for Santa Cruz visitors.
We’ve carried Marianne’s ice cream at both locations for more than 10 years and have developed a great relationship with Sam. Remember the special cantaloupe ice cream we offered as a bonus last summer? The one made with the cantaloupes from Turlock? That was from Marianne’s and we delivered the cantaloupe right to him!
We’re excited to announce another special ice cream we’ve worked out as a result of our relationship with Marianne’s: Double Chocolate Marshmallow Bunny. Everyone is familiar with the marshmallow bunnies and chicks we see at stores this time of year…well, we’ve used that idea to whip up an ice cream especially for Easter. And it’s only available at Sigona’s!
John Nava, specialty foods buyer for Sigona’s, has been working with Sam, who has owned and operated Marianne’s since 1958, to develop this uniquely-named ice cream the last few weeks.
“We work with some of the best, most talented local vendors and Marianne’s is one of my favorites because it reminds me of the way ice cream used to taste when I was a kid,” said Nava.
Marianne’s boasts 75 different flavors, and showcases 72 in their store on Ocean Street in Santa Cruz. Of the 75 flavors, Sigona’s generally carries between 30-50 choices at both stores. Sam’s all time favorite? Butter Brickle, hands down.
In the coming weeks we’re going to announce another write-in-to-win contest involving mothers and Marianne’s ice cream…you can enter to win to have one of the flavors renamed after your mom for Mother’s Day! Be sure to keep an eye out for details. You won’t want to miss out on this opportunity!
