Meet Joe Sheldon & Kathy Schmidt from Have a Party Pros

These Bay Area DJs know how to spark up an event!

We met Joe and Kathy earlier this year during an Earth Day event at Bloomingdale’s. Carmelo loved the music Joe played while he was preparing the arugula salads we sampled at the event, so we asked them to come entertain our guests at the olive oil seminar. Joe just knows what music fits the crowd!

Joe and Kathy have been in the musical entertainment business for more than 25 years. Joe has been both a musician and DJ for more than 20 years, with experience in playing popular songs on solo guitar and with full bands. He’s also written and recorded original music that has been released on CDs. Joe’s sidekick, Kathy, is also a dancer and an aerobic instructor – she’s been teaching classes in San Bruno, San Mateo, San Carlos, Redwood City and elsewhere for years.

Both events where we’ve worked with Have a Party Pros have been smooth in terms of music, microphones, timing and keeping the audience’s attention. While Joe runs the controls, Kathy is on spot with great advice and insight for the client about how to get things going. She is also a very talented DJ/Entertainer/Dancer and party motivator.

What types of events do you do? A little of everything! Weddings, anniversaries, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, birthday parties, corporate events, DJ dance and theme parties, including 70s disco, country line dancing, 50s Sock Hop, Motown and more.

How far would you travel for a gig? We like to say we travel “from Monterey to the North Bay wine country.” However, we will entertain all offers for travel.

Do you have an all-time favorite song? Too many to mention!

What kind of live performances do you offer? We have several types of bands to offer. The “Joe Sheldon Band” does a variety of music perfect for weddings, the “Tuxedo Swing” band does old-time favorites, and “Go man Go!” does a collection of 50s 60s 70s and 80s dance favorites.

Is there anything unique about the services you offer? People always enjoy our combination of a live performance (solo guitar/DJ, Band/DJ) and interactive dance parties, which include karaoke and candid party photography.
