Robbie’s Produce Tips: Local Heirloom Tomatoes
This is the best time of year for tomatoes. The three that you can’t go wrong with are the dried farm organic early girls, organic heirloom beefsteak and organic heirloom. I love all of these with some balsamic and olive oil drizzled over the top. Once football season starts, you’ll find me in my backyard barbequing on Sundays. If it’s a burger that my boys want then I’ll go with our grass fed beef and a thick slice of the organic beefsteak on top. My older boy Neiko, who basically lives on pasta, will actually eat tomatoes now, and especially loves the local tomatoes.
Robbie Sigona is our produce buyer. He works with local farmers and scours the market for the very best in fresh fruits and vegetables – some you won’t find anywhere else.
