Local Vendor Spotlight: Sigona’s Partnerships lead to another Sweet Treat
Sigona’s Partnerships lead to another Sweet Treat
Sigona’s combines outstanding cantaloupe from Turlock, CA with Sam Lieberman’s famous Marianne’s Ice Cream from Santa Cruz.

Sam Lieberman and his wife Dorothy are renowned for their old-fashioned Marianne’s Ice Cream shop in Santa Cruz; pulling over for a double scoop of Marianne’s is practically a ritual for Santa Cruz visitors.
Sigona’s has partnered with Marianne’s for more than 10 years, and we’re excited to announce the first-of-the-season fresh cantaloupe ice cream made by Marianne’s with cantaloupe from Turlock, Calif. It’s churned exclusively for Sigona’s!
John Nava, our specialty foods buyer, works with Sam to develop new flavor combinations for our stores. Frequent Sigona’s shoppers may remember the double chocolate marshmallow bunny ice cream we featured earlier this year — that was a flavor Nava and Sam developed together exclusively for Sigona’s, too!
“We work with some of the best, most talented local vendors and Marianne’s is one of my favorites because it reminds me of the way ice cream used to taste when I was a kid,” said Nava.
Cantaloupe season is just getting started and local melons are incredibly juicy and flavorful. Cantaloupes from Turlock have a naturally higher sugar content, making them sweeter and juicer than others. These premium melons are picked at their peak and quickly delivered to our store; this is why the cantaloupe ice cream is so delicious and unique.
Please enjoy the coupon for free Marianne’s fresh cantaloupe ice cream when you make a purchase of $30 this week (July 28 – Aug. 3). You’ll only find this ice cream at Sigona’s!
