Robbie’s Produce Tips: Locally Grown Green Swiss Chard
- Choose Swiss chard* that possesses a healthy green look to it. Older chard will start to turn yellow. The cold weather has a similar affect on chard, too.
- Make sure the bottom of the stem is white. The bottom of older chard’s stems will start to turn brown.
- The greens should look vibrant. They shouldn’t be dull or have any cracked leaves.
- Ensure the greens are firm and not dried out or limp.
*The Swiss chard is freshly picked daily in Half Moon Bay.
