When pomegranates ripen, they actually “square” up slightly, as shown here.

Choose pomegranates that are…

  • Red in color
  • Heavy for their size
  • Nice and healthy looking with a shine to them, as opposed to dull looking

Also…

  • When pomegranates ripen, they actually “square” up slightly (see the picture)
  • Store at room temp if you are eating soon; store in refrigeration for a longer life.
  • Some are more red than others – this has to do with the amount of sun that the fruit gets. The outer part of the tree gets more sun and therefore produces better color.
