Sigona’s Fresh Press Olive Oil of the Month (August 2011)
Sigona’s Fresh Press Olive Oil of the Month (August 2011)
We’ve just received the first set of Australian oils for the 2011 season and can’t wait to tell you about them.
The Australian olive harvest is counter-seasonal to that of the Northern Hemisphere, making this latest release of olive oils some of the freshest currently available anywhere in the world.
For starters, we’d like to introduce you to the…
Sigona’s Fresh Press Extra Virgin Olive Oil of August 2011:
Manzanillo from Australia
This oil…
- is super fresh! It was pressed in May 2011 and was delivered in July to the US.
- features the telltale strawberry flavor characteristics of a fresh Manzanillo, and also presents hints of apple peel.
- is a fruity, medium-intensity oil that’s wonderfully balanced with a delayed pepper sensation and lingering green fruit & pungency on the back end.
- adds a delicate, fruity flavor to raw dishes, such as fruity salsas, toppings and salads
Try it in this dish:
Spice-rubbed Chicken with a Fresh Press Manzanillo, Summer Peach & Avocado Topping
Pairing the fruity, medium-intensity Manzanillo with fresh, in-season produce enhances the lovely, summery flavors in this dish. Try the rub with a fish, such as mahi-mahi or snapper, if you prefer something other than chicken. Serves 4.
