Sigona’s Fresh Press Olive Oil of the Month: January 2012
Sigona’s Fresh Press Olive Oil of the Month: January 2012
Fresh-pressed California olive oils made it to our stores in December — and the season’s pressing did not disappoint! If you haven’t yet sampled the California oils, please stop by and bring your friends!
We know most people vow to eat healthy come the New Year. We’re all for that, of course, being a produce market! However, we were still in a holiday state-of-mind while testing recipes for this featured oil, and as a result, are suggesting a dish a bit out of character. Read on for a recipe for a decadent, rich brownie with a devilish, chocolatey ganache!
But wait, there’s more! Before we get to the stats on our featured oil, we want to point out one thing: The ganache calls for some tangerine balsamic, an infusion on sale this month at Sigona’s. Now there is almost no reason you shouldn’t make the brownies!
Sigona’s January 2012 olive oil of the month
California Arbosana
This oil…
- Presents a grassy note that’s bold up front, followed by a hint of artichoke, finishing with a mild peppery sensation on the back end.
- Has a 108 polyphenol count. Polyphenols are the natural, healthy antioxidants found in olive oil.
- Is thick, unfiltered and is said to be the best Arbosana in California.
- Would be excellent drizzled over a whole grain dish, used for pesto or in baked goods. It’s also good as a spring salad vinaigrette made with Sigona’s vanilla bean balsamic.
