Robbie’s Produce Tips: California Okra

Fresh Okra

It’s California-grown this time of year, which is the best time to buy it.

Choose okra that is bright green in color.
Choose dry firm pods.
Only wash pods when ready to use. Wet pods will get very slimy.
Older okra will get black, not to be confused with bruising. Okra is delicate and will bruise.
Store in refrigerator for up to three days.
