I remember as a kid at grandma and grandpa Sigonas’ for the holidays, there would a plate with raw fennel to munch on after your meal–a very Sicilian tradition.

When choosing fresh fennel select:

  • White bulbs that are heavy and firm with bright green feathery fronds.
  • Bulbs that are heavy for its size.
  • Avoid bulbs with moist spots, bruises or that appear shriveled
